Free-to-play indie fishing game

A Wonderful Day For Fishing is a free simulation that puts you in a calming environment. Alone in your boat, you play as an elderly man fishing in the water. With elements based on chance, you’ll never know what you’ll find. While its visual style looks simple and child-friendly, rest assured that it is not. It is a slow-burn horror coupled with some unsettling audio.

If you’re looking for something to pass the time and creep you out, A Wonderful Day for Fishing is the indie game you’re looking for, like The Looker and Beware the Shadowcatcher together.

Find horrors in the water

A Wonderful Day For Fishing is one of those games that looks deceptively simple. Its visual quality looks like it was designed to be a children’s book. However, it’s far from child-friendly. Depending on what you catch, the atmosphere changes accordingly. This includes the color of the water. It even features an ending that is surprising, puzzling, and disturbing all at the same time.

In terms of background music, it’s absolute silence except for the intermittent whistle of the wind, which adds tension to the seemingly calming experience. As a horror game, it doesn’t use any jumpscares. The real fright in this game comes in slowly realizing what you’ve gotten yourself into, plus the response of the fisherman depending on whether you eat or release your catch.

While it is effective as a slow-burn horror experience, it feels like 20 minutes or so have passed you by, and the game has already ended. This short playthrough will leave you with a lot of questions. Additionally, there’s not much to do in the game but wait for your catch. Additional interaction with your character, even for comedic purposes, would have helped with the gameplay experience.

Fun, unpredictable, and ultimately scary

If you’re wondering about what secrets the depths hold, A Wonderful Day For Fishing is not the game for you. This is deceptively simple, bright, and friendly-looking—capturing the peace often associated with fishing trips—with only the sound as the clue on what this game is really about. Still, once you start this, you’ll have the urge to see this through. Highly recommended.

Warning

This software program is potentially malicious or may contain unwanted bundled software.

Why is the software program still available?

Based on our scan system, we have determined that these flags are possibly false positives.

What is a false positive?
